Meet bis in Manchester, Swansea, Wolverhampton or London

local groupsWant to get out and meet some other bis? We have four bi meets in our diary around the country in the next two days! Here are some diary dates for bis in London, Manchester, Swansea and Wolverhampton.

Monday sees the regular meetup of London‘s Over 50s bi group from 6pm-8pm at AgeUK, Tavis House, Tavistock Square, London. WC1H 9NA.

Tuesday night is busy with Manchester‘s monthly bi pub meet at Waterhouse from 8pm– look for the cuddly lion or find out more on the BiPhoria website for Manchester bisexuals.

It’s also Wolverhampton‘s meetup on Tuesday, at the Wolverhampton LGBT Centre, 4 Salop St from 7pm-9pm.

Bis gather in Swansea this weekend for BiFest

Bi WalesThis Saturday – 10th May – sees a big BiFest festival in Swansea from 12 noon until 12 midnight.

During the day there will be:

  • A set of workshops themed around bisexuality and related issues
  • A set of workshops themed around fun and games and getting to know other people
  • A craft space with materials and craft workshops
  • Bi and community information stalls
  • Meet and mingle social space
  • Refreshments
  • Raffle

All at 1st Floor, YMCA Swansea, 1 The Kingsway, Swansea, SA1 5JQ

Entry: £2 daytime only, £3 evening live music event only, £4 for both (paid together). Under 15s free, but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The organisers add:

BiFests are one-day events celebrating bisexuality, for bisexuals and bi-friendly people. Originating in London, it has now spread to several other UK locations.

Wales has had a BiFest since 2010, although it was originally in Cardiff in 2010 and 2011. After a year off in 2012 BiFest Wales has moved to Swansea, where the support of Swansea YMCA has helped us to keep entry prices down and make the event affordable.

After a successful, if small event, on 5th October 2013 BiFest Wales returns to Swansea YMCA on Saturday 10th May 2014.

Community groups, charities and public sector organisations are welcome to bring along 1 or 2 types of leaflets for the community information area of the daytime event.

Daytime workshop, social and information event

Registration from 12 noon. First workshop 12:30pm. 6:30pm finish.
The Theatre, 1st Floor, Swansea YMCA, 1 The Kingsway, Swansea, SA1 5JQ

Entry: £2 daytime only. £4 if you pay for the daytime and evening events together. Pay on the door.
Babies, children and young people under 15 welcome with a responsible adult and get free entry.
Includes refreshments throughout the daytime event.

12:30pm – Getting to know you (speed friending) – an informal, facilitated way to meet the other people coming to BiFest Wales and start conversations. At the meet and mingle social space in the Theatre

3:15pm – Bisexuality in the workplace – facilitated by Kate Chatterjee-Williams, workplace officer, Stonewall Cymru

1:30pm – All about bisexuality

5:15pm Bisexual issues and education

Doors 7:30pm. First live music act: 8pm. Ends: 12 midnight.

Entry: £3 evening only, or £4 for day and evening events. Pay on the door.
There will be a bar in the Theatre, open throughout the evening.

An exciting variety of live music and local DJs are supporting BiFest Wales 2014.

These include:

  • Tutti Fruity – Swansea-based LGBT friendly choir
  • Kayleigh Emma Morgan – Solo acoustic singer/songwriter/guitarist
  • Rock of Ages – Classic Rock band spanning time both musically and ages of the band members (12 to 65)
  • Etherian – 3-piece Melodic Death Metal band
  • Drakenwerks – Welsh Cyber-industrial act

Will I be welcome at BiFest Wales?

BiFest Wales welcomes anyone bi-supportive. Although BiFests are bisexual community events, themed around bisexuality and promoting a safe, inclusive space with discussions around bisexuality, we welcome anyone who’s supportive of bisexuality and bi people. This includes:

  • Bi people
  • People who are questioning or think they may be bi
  • People who use a different term or no term
  • Partners
  • Friends
  • Family
  • Organisations
  • Allies
  • And anyone who’s interested in coming along and learning more or sharing in the event, whether bi, lesbian, gay, straight, or another term.

Meet bis in Manchester, Nottingham, Southampton, Swansea and Brighton

Tomorrow (Tuesday) is the monthly meeting of Manchester BiPhoria, at the LGF community centre on Richmond Street from 7.30pm sharp.  It’s also the regular meeting of Southampton Bi Group.

Thursday is the turn of Nottingham BiTopia, who meet at The Lord Roberts pub on Broad Street from 7.30pm.

On Saturday it’s Swansea BiFest all day, which will be awash with bis and bi-friendly folk, while in Brighton from 3pm-5pm it’s the regular coffee meet for Brighton BothWays – see their website here.

Bi meetups in Bristol, Manchester, Swansea & Wolverhampton

Tonight in Bristol it’s the regular meetup of BiVisible at Cafe Kino, Stokes Croft from 7pm. Look for the table with the purple teapot!

Tuesday night (April 15th) has three meets. Third Way meet in Wolverhampton at LGBT Centre, 4 Salop St, from 7pm.
