BCN magazine editor Jen Yockney was among the guests at last night’s LGBT garden party hosted by David Cameron at 10 Downing Street.
Over recent years, Prime Ministers Gordon Brown and David Cameron have held annual lesbian, gay, bi and trans community receptions at 10 Downing Street, usually timed to coincide with Pride London. However while there were a few bisexual people among the guests, none of the UK’s bi projects and organisations have been represented until now.
Jen told BiMedia: “It was exciting to be there among people who have done great things for the LGBT communities – and a smattering of MPs! – and in blazing sunshine after weeks of rain it was the perfect date to have picked.
“Hopefully this is the start of greater bi inclusion at such events and next year groups like BiPhoria or Bothways might be represented, or national bi projects like Bisexual Index and BiUK.”
