Manchester council talks to bis

Manchester city council will take another step in engaging with the bisexual community this Thursday, as part of their annual “LGBT Consultation Day”. The programme for the event includes a session exploring what bisexuals want in the city and in particular from the council, hosted by the local bi project BiPhoria.

In the past the city’s council has been a byword in bi circles for poor engagement with the bisexual community, in contrast to its track record on lesbian and gay issues.

Election holds up bis

Due to the general election BiCardiff won’t be meeting tonight. They tell us:

“Instead we will be meeting in the cafe of the National Museum Cardiff at 2pm, Saturday May 8th. We will resume our regular meeting time next month. This social is open to anyone – friends, allies and supporters- so feel free to bring someone along for an afternoon of coffee, exhibits and good times!”

Brighton bis hit by snow too

Following Tuesday’s decision to cancel the first Manchester bisexuals group meeting of the year, the first Brighton meeting has been cancelled too. Brighton Bothways‘ meeting tomorrow evening has been cancelled due to the snow.

We understand that Glasgow‘s meeting tonight was not affected by the weather – so if you’re thinking of popping along to a local group, it’s still worth getting in touch to find out whether their meeting is going ahead.

The first Manchester bisexual group meeting of the year, tonight’s BiPhoria session, has been called off due to the heavy snow in that part of the country.

If the difficult weather continues it is likely other groups meeting this week may have to cancel too: if you are planning to go to your local group, make sure you email or phone them to confirm the meeting is going ahead.

You can find out details of upcoming meetings around the UK from our Calendar page.
