2008 saw the first “BiReCon” bi academia & research conference. This was a day of workshops, presentations, and research seminars seeking to build bridges between organisations, researchers and bisexual communities. It was held at Leicester University’s Oadby campus.
Organisations represented included Polari, Mind, Unison and Stonewall.
The UK bi scene had been coming together for annual conferences for 25 years so the academic conference was held as an adjunct to that BiCon gathering, at the same venue a day beforehand.
Two years later a similar, international event was held in London, and this summer a second UK BiReCon will be held in Bradford.
