Uruguay has legalised same-sex marriage today with a massive parliamentary majority in support. 71 of 92 members of congress supported the measure.
It’s the third country in the Americas to make the change – Argentina and Canada already have equal marriage, and it is also legal in various parts of Mexico, Brazil and the USA.
New Zealand will debate a similar proposal next week.
