On Tuesday evening, after being passed at Third Reading in the House of Commons, the same-sex marriage bill was introduced in the Lords where it passed First Reading.
The Bill will receive its Second Reading in the House of Lords on 3 June.
While the bill passed second and third reading votes in the Commons by a clear margin, the debate in the Lords is expected to be a lot closer.
Bi Community News editor Jen Yockney told BiMedia, “There are just a few days in which to write to members of the House of Lords encouraging them to support the bill. As Peers don’t have a constituency link the way that MPs do, pick anyone – someone who shares your surname, someone who is Baroness whatever, of the town you grew up in, someone who you once met at a Church Fete or thought spoke well on the TV. But write soon.”
