It’s September 23rd: happy Bi Visibility Day!
Bi Visibility Day, also known as International Celebrate Bisexuality Day, has been marked since 1999 each year on September 23rd around the world. Back in 1999 the only event marking the date in the UK was in Manchester, a bar meet-up with leaflet table, organised by local bi group BiPhoria. After a few years of being quietly observed within the organised bi community, since around 2010 it has stepped up to be a much bigger event, around the world but especially in the UK.
This year there is an enormous amount more going on around the country, more than ever before and reaching more people than ever before. Businesses, charities, councils and universities that want to show their support for bisexual staff and service users are marking the date where once it was only bi organisations doing so.
We’ll be sharing what we know about: please, tell us what we haven’t spotted. Tweet @bivisibilityday with photos, events, blogpost links and so on, so it can go on the international Bi Visibility Day hub website.
