She is a fledgling “word bird”: her writing tutor has called her ‘the new Wendy Cope’ and she hopes one day to live up to such wonderful praise. Libby splits her time between London and Yorkshire, likes to go on courses, and writes on subjects as diverse as the way people remember childhood, the Grandes-Cocottes of the French Revolution, and being a crap lesbian in the BCN diary column of that name.
Themes she returns to are relationships and memories. With a background in speech and drama, Libby has been performing other people’s poetry from an early age. This is the first time she will be reading her own work.
Word Birds poetry showcase night, tonight from 7.30pm at The Railway (opp. Streatham Common, London) Tickets £5 (£3 concs.) on door
