Brighton Pride to charge

The organisers of this summer’s Brighton Pride (set for August 13th) have announced that it will not be a free festival as in the past.  The change in policy follows complaints about safety and litter at last year’s event.

Many other LGBT Pride events have already gone along this route – with additional costs incurred from fencing and security – as, like Brighton, other festivals have run into problems of donations from attendees not meeting the costs of putting on a major event.

Brighton Pride has had a difficult past couple of years with the 2009 event suffering as very heavy rain put punters off.
