Calling bis and allies in and around Cambridge – tomorrow evening Dr Caroline Walters will be giving an informative yet light-hearted presentation BDSM and bisexuality, Fifty Shades of Sexuality: BDSM and Bisexuality.
The public lecture is tomorrow, Thursday 14th March at 7:30 in Keynes Hall, Kings College, Cambridge.
There will be an introductory explanation of all basic concepts through Queer Theory – sexualities that challenge the notions of reproduction – including a BDSM 101 and introduction to Bisexuality, before touching on new research. All welcome, including if you’ve never encountered sexuality studies on an academic level before, or simply want to know more about BDSM or bisexuality.
The event flyer asks: Say heterosexuality, and you might think of heterosexuality and homosexuality. And perhaps bisexuality. But what about BDSM or even Fat Sex? How are these sexualities understood, practiced and accepted by society? Is BDSM really like being gay 20 years ago – as the Tab* has claimed – and a sexuality that will come to be understood as normal as homosexuality? And why does society still persist in subconsciously categorising bisexuality as a subset of homosexuality, when bisexuals may experience completely different feelings?
