And Now France Too…

france

Two weeks ago there were eleven countries where same-sex couples could marry; now there are fourteen.  The French parliament has passed a bill introducing same-sex marriage today, passing the measure by 331 votes to 225.

The measure has been hard-fought with huge anti-equality campaign protests and a reported upsurge in homophobic attacks in the country.

The same-sex marriage bill for England & Wales in still making its way through Westminster while Scotland is legislating separately. The UK as a whole will still not have full same-sex marriage legislation however as Northern Ireland has been allowed to opt-out following a decision of the devolved assembly.
