Manchester local radio station ALL FM’s LGBT show, All Out, talked bi today, with Made in Manchester media production company boss Ashley Byrne talking about his experiences as a bi man.
Ashley is perhaps best known as the presenter over many years of BBC Manchester’s LGBT Citizen show, which came to an end recently as part of BBC radio restructuring.
The interview tackles issues like the contrast between a popular image of bi promiscuity versus the reality for many bis of monogamous life, when and how to drop being bi into conversation, and how the chances of dating a man or a woman are affected by life choices leading you to move in more ‘gay’ or ‘straight’ circles.
Media bi erasure also comes up – and the hidden “straight-bi” people who are less likely to be drawn to LGBT groups and spaces.
