On Wednesday in Edinburgh, outside the Scottish Parliament, the Equality Network will be holding a final rally before the first crucial vote on Scotland’s equal marriage bill. The gathering will start at 12.30pm.
The organisers say, “You do not have to register to attend, but please do if you can as it will help us with planning: http://goo.gl/YNXfWU”
The stage one vote on the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Scotland) Bill will take place on Wednesday. The vote will reveal whether MSPs support equal marriage and allow the Bill to proceed, or reject the Bill and deny equality to LGBT people.
While surveys suggest MSPs will back the measure, as in England and Wales there is a strong and organised lobbying campaign against the bill. The debate in the Scottish Parliament is expected to start at around 5pm with a vote at around 8pm.
