International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia

IDAHO logoToday, 17 May, has for many years now been marked as International Day Against Homophobia. Recently this has started being rebranded with transphobia and sometimes also biphobia incorporated into its name.

Among the vigils and events around the UK this year there were speakers from bi projects in Brighton and Manchester. In Manchester, a speaker from local group BiPhoria talked about the personal impacts of biphobia and the importance of finding community support for addressing health and work inequalities for bi people.

In Brighton speakers from the local bi group Bothways highlighted similar issues and the importance of allies and working together to fight all kinds of prejudice.
