Both have their benefits and flaws, the Klein Grid in particular being a dry set of 21 numbers reflecting different aspects of identity and experience. One attempt to solve this online plotted all 21 into one single point on an axis – losing much of what differentiates the simple “where between gay and straight are you” Kinsey scale from the more nuanced Klein model.
So a new website that represents Klein scores in a simple visual way is very welcome – computers are good at turning numbers into pictures and for many people pictures have more meaning than lists of digits.
The graphic marks sexuality and identity in the past (red), current (green), and idealised (blue).
